Working with a master stonecutter who enjoys the unusual has given me liberty to design the cut of the gem I want. Instead of being limited by the standard shapes of cut stones, I get to decide on a gem’s number of facets, size, and shape—on its symmetry, or asymmetry.
A little more offbeat than its symmetrical sisters, the pyramid cut is an elegant abandonment of rules that too often confine self-expression.
