Could ancient artistry meet 21st century technology? Would 3D printing complement or compete with the handmade ethic of my work? To find out, I set about using the latest technology to create a post-modern cradle for the ancient art form of inlay. The result—an intricate, 3D printed metal skeleton, cast in solid sterling and decorated with inlays of precious metals, rare woods stippled in gold using Hombisa’s signature Milky Way technique, and gemstones in colours reminiscent of the ancient Egyptian palette.
Atlas Bangles have a rounded profile and a secure, but easy to use magnetic clasp. They are available in three different sizes, small, medium, and large. I use different materials for the different sizes, and individualise each bangle with unique inlay work.
